A 2 × 630 MW Power Plant of Datang Group
Overview

As a key provincial project in Hunan Province, this power plant serves as an important backbone of the Changsha–Zhuzhou–Xiangtan and southern Hunan power grids. The project was constructed with high-efficiency flue gas desulfurization (FGD), denitrification, and dust removal systems, achieving ultra-low emission standards stipulated by national regulations for particulate matter, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen oxides.

Since commissioning, the plant has maintained an excellent safety record, with no incidents involving personal injury, major equipment damage, or environmental accidents. It has been awarded the Group’s honor of “Model Site for Safe and Civilized Construction.”
As a result, uninterrupted power supply to in-plant load equipment is a critical requirement to ensure safe and stable operation.

Pain Points & Solutions
  • Pain Point 1: Production Interruption and Economic Loss
Unstable power supply to auxiliary busbars may cause critical loads—such as boilers, feedwater pumps, and oil pumps—to trip. In severe cases, this can lead to unit shutdown and boiler trip, preventing power generation and potentially triggering safety incidents. In addition, outages of flue gas desulfurization and dust removal systems may result in emission exceedances and regulatory penalties.
  • Solution 1
The fast transfer device features busbar undervoltage initiation, protection-based initiation on the operating feeder, and rapid closing capability. Considering that most power plant auxiliary loads are asynchronous motors, a voltage-tolerant transfer closing criterion has been developed, ensuring fast and safe switching to the standby power source in the event of operating power abnormalities.
  • Pain Point 2: Complex Start-up, Shutdown, and Switching Operations with Low Safety
During unit start-up and shutdown, coordinated backend operations are required, including opening and closing of operating and standby breakers, resulting in complex procedures. Conventional switching operations rely on repeated backend coordination or on-site manual intervention, increasing operational complexity and introducing the risk of power interruption during switching.
  • Solution 2
The device supports independent operation of operating and standby breakers, enabling safe one-button control. With a one-button transfer function, operators can initiate normal switching either remotely or locally. The device automatically completes uninterrupted power transfer between sources within seconds, ensuring a simple, safe, and reliable switching process.
  • Pain Point 3: Complex Switching Operations and Low Safety
Traditional switching operations require repeated backend coordination or on-site manual actions, increasing operational complexity and posing a risk of power interruption during the transfer process.
  • Solution 3
The transfer device provides a one-button switching function. Operators can issue a normal transfer command remotely or locally, and the device automatically completes uninterrupted power transfer between power sources within seconds, making the switching process simple, safe, and reliable.
Values
  • Simple & Flexible
Single-breaker operation during unit start-up and shutdown is straightforward and safe. One-button normal power transfer simplifies switching operations and reduces operation and maintenance costs, including staffing requirements. Multiple built-in transfer modes and criteria flexibly accommodate a wide range of operating conditions.
  • Economical & Safe
The solution effectively prevents unit shutdown and boiler trip caused by unstable operating power supply. For environmental systems such as flue gas desulfurization and dust removal, it ensures continuous operation of critical equipment, supporting energy efficiency improvements and safe plant operation.
Client Comments
GoLead Intelligent Electric Power Technology Co., Ltd. developed a dedicated fast transfer solution tailored to our auxiliary power operating conditions, enabling millisecond-level standby power switching. This ensures uninterrupted power supply to critical loads such as boilers, feedwater pumps, and oil pumps, effectively preventing production interruptions and potential safety incidents. The solution significantly enhances overall power supply reliability and provides strong support for safe operation and economic performance of the power plant.
